Cherating’s fame as a beach destination began in the early 70’s when backpackers from all over the world gathered here for its pristine beaches.

Kemaman (Cherating neighbouring town) is a quaint little town situated at the estuary of the Kemaman river. It is famed for its picturesque scenery of fishing villages (at Kuala Kemaman), seafood and coffee.

Today, Cherating is quieter but it has not lost any of its charm. A beach that stretches as far as the eye can see, white sand, blue skies and the wind blowing from the South China Sea, one can simply spend the day idling watching the waves.

If you feel like exploring, take a boat trip up Cherating river and see the mangrove forest rich with unique species. Don’t miss to savour fresh seafood served at its many restaurants.
